The FBI has charged six people with conducting an illicit money-transmitting enterprise worth $30 million using cryptocurrencies.

The FBI has charged six people with conducting an illicit money-transmitting enterprise worth $30 million using cryptocurrencies. Shaileshkumar Goyani, Brijeshkumar Patel, Hirenkumar Patel, Naineshkumar Patel, Nileshkumar Patel, and Raju Patel, according to court records filed in the Southern District of New York, operated in New York without a legitimate money transmitting license.

It was alleged that the group used the darknet to convert Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies into cash between July 2021 and September 2023, making around $30 million over three years. According to the petition, some clients made money from drug sales, while the wealthiest clients were hackers.
